John Bandstra Sr., Dick Bandstra, and Herman Bandstra were three brothers who grew up watching their father operate his own trucking company in Holland. They later moved to Canada and applied their industry knowledge to establish Bandstra Transportation in 1955 in Smithers, BC. Starting with two trucks, they initially transported goods between Prince Rupert and Smithers. Despite challenging road conditions, the company grew and expanded over the years. Today, Bandstra Transportation is a part of the Mullen Group, benefiting from increased resources and a broad network of carriers and logistics services.
